What can a hang tab do for my product?
If your product’s package is not designed to hang, a
hang tab can get your product up, off the shelf and hanging
where customers
will see it, increasing profits. Do-It Hang Tabs work wherever
you want a proven, practical method for showing more product
in less
space (hanging merchandise) or for repairing or reinforcing
packages. Place a hang tab on a product and your merchandise
can now be hung on a peg display or display
strip.
Products with torn blister cards lie on the shelf or floor and
do not sell. Place a Do-It Hang Tab over the torn area and the
product package is as good as new. Use Do-It Hang Tabs to reinforce
existing packaging and you can prevent damage. It’s
a low-cost way to feel secure about your product.
How do I know which hang tab will work best for my product?
There are a number of factors to consider when selecting a
hang tab. The size, weight, shape, and surface area of your
product’s
package all influence which hang tab will work best for you.
How you plan to display your product and how you plan to apply
a hang tab to your product can also affect hang tab selection.
How do you choose? Talk to us. We know hang tabs. We know surfaces
and which shrink films work best. We know how to apply hang
tabs. Often, the best way to determine which hang tab will
work is
to send us samples of your product and let us try different
hang tabs.
Or we’ll develop a new hang tab to meet your needs.
Why are there different hole styles for hang tabs?
How you plan to hang or display your product can determine
which hole style to use. Each hole style has its own advantages.
Slot style hang tabs are the most versatile of our hang tabs.
This style works well with most packages. The delta-shaped
hanging area
self-centers on any peg display. The versatile euro style
or Saturn-shaped hole loads easily onto single- or double-wire
peg displays.
Round hole hang tabs are great for lighter-weight items and
fit a variety of single peg fixtures.
Hook hang tabs make selecting the
exact product quick and easy — customers
can remove any product from any position on the display.
Hooks also fit a variety of peg fixtures, simplify and speed
up rotation of stock, and allow you to hang more than one
size or color of
the same product on a peg.
Is a hang tab the same as a durable tag?
A standard hang tab is designed to only hang a product in a
retail environment. This is true for most of our printed
hang tabs as well, which have
a printed message and/or graphics. It consists of plastic,
adhesive, and liner paper and has the structural integrity
to hold a product
on a peg hook or display strip until
purchased.
A durable tag is usually designed to only hang on a product
by means of a string or plastic tie — it does not
support the product. So while a Do-It
PrinTab® Hang
Tab can be a durable tag,
a durable tag cannot be a hang tab.
What causes a hang tab to fail?
Occasionally, hang tabs fail
to perform as expected. Often, the cause of the failure
can
be easily identified
and corrected.
When a hang tab fails, we first examine the weight and
shape of the product and where on the product the hang
tab was
placed. Each
style of hang tab is designed for packages of various
sizes and shapes, and is tested to hang a specific maximum
weight.
When
a hang tab fails, the reason can be as simple as the
wrong hang tab
being selected for that particular package — the
package was too heavy for that hang tab, the shape was
wrong, or it was
placed incorrectly on the package (over a shrink-wrap
seal, for example).
If we determine that the right hang tab was used for
the particular package, there are a number of other factors
that can influence
hang tab performance. In general, key factors that
affect hang tab performance are:
- Location on package
- Surface form
- Hanging environment — temperature/humidity
- Substrates — package
surface
- Surface contaminations
- Master carton packaging and shipping considerations
- Package size,
weight, and peel angle
- Wet-out time
If you are having problems with your hang tabs, call
us. We can help identify and find a
solution for any hang tab
problem.
What benefit does a fold-up hang tab
offer?
Fold-up hang
tabs lie flat during
master carton packing and shipping
and fold up
if needed
in the retail
environment. This provides
options for the store. If your product
is placed on a shelf, the hang tab
will go unnoticed.
If store personnel
want
to
hang the
product, they simply fold up the
hang hole and place the product on
a peg
hook, display
strip,
or anywhere
else
they want to
display it.

Recommended
product display weight — The
ideal weight we recommend for a particular
hang tab. Recommended weight should
be used as a guideline only. Hang
tab hanging performance is
determined by a number of factors
other than weight. The size and shape
of
product, the type of surface, and
the hanging environment also affect
performance. The surface should be
clean, dry, and free
of contaminants.
Sheeted — Sheeted hang tabs are cluster parts that have been
trimmed to a convenient handheld size. Sheeted parts are usually
formatted in groups of 10, 20, 24, or 36 parts per sheet. Sheeted
parts are ideal for hand application, either at the packaging facility
or in the store. They are easy to use — just peel and place.
Wet-out — The amount of time for the adhesive on a hang
tab to completely adhere to the surface to which it is attached.
Wobbler — Clear
or printed, wobblers attach to your
store shelf and draw attention to
your product. As customers walk by,
the moving air moves the wobbler, drawing attention to your product. < top
